Tootsie Rolls for dinner? You bet! My husband Mark and I had the pleasure of a unique Sushi experience at Sushiya, the new restaurant on the SEC of Gilbert and Williamsfield. Owner Sung Yoon invited us to try his "Potato Crunch", superfine crunchy fried potato strings barely floating atop our Tootsie Roll- a spin on the California roll with shrimp, crab and cucumbers topped with a house-made sweet sauce. So delicious. We alsoe loved the Dragon Roll made with eel, crab, cucumber, and topped with thin slices of avocado. For more experienced Sushi Connoisseurs, Sushiya offers Sashimi-raw, thinly sliced fish without the rice-including Tuna, Yellow Tail, Salmon, Sea Bass and Octopus. Served Chilled with ginger root, wasabi and soy sauce.
And if you're just getting your feet wet, try one of Sushiya's delicious cooked entrees, like Chicken Teriyaki, Pork Katsu or assorted Tempura. Top it all off with Green Tea Ice Cream!
